Laura Bolyard, Executive Director of the Lake District Chamber of Commerce and Rockin’ Under the Stars Outdoor Concert, is thrilled with this year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, August 6, from 5:30 p.m. 11 p.m.

In an interview with Bolyard last week, she explained that kids’ activities, food carts and more make this an unforgettable family event.

It all takes place at the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association, 3860 Newton Road in Commerce Township. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs and/or blankets so you have a place to sit!

Spine caught up with Bolyard for a one-minute interview giving the scoop on this event.

How many years has the bedroom present this an event, and where is this this year? HAS this still has been in the same location?

Rockin’ Under the Stars’ began in 2011 as a collaborative event between the Lakes Area Chamber and the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association. From the start of the event until today, it has been held at Multi-Lakes in Commerce Township with the lake, trees and hills providing the perfect backdrop for this outdoor summer concert. air.

Who is Headlining the an event? What box people expect at to listen and do? Are the things other that the concert event?

“We are really excited about the two bands performing this year. Itchycoo Park takes the stage at 5:30 p.m. playing music from the late 60s to early 70s. They have great sound and a fun performance style, and are quickly becoming a local favorite. Power Play Detroit is the headliner of the evening with a start time of 8:30 p.m. They are a classic rock cover band voted best local band for 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 and best cover band for 2018 and 2019 by WDIV Local 4/Click Detroit. They’re just awesome and we’ve actually had them at the event for several years because everyone loves them.

“Doors open at 4:30 p.m. so spectators can settle in and enjoy food concessions provided by two of our Lake District Chamber of Commerce members. Attendees can enjoy great food from Dickey’s Barbeque Pit and Kickstand Brewing Company, both located in Commerce. There is a beer tent with a wide variety of options hosted by Multi-Lacs as well as a family play area to enjoy as well. The Family Game Area stays open until dark and offers demonstrations and activities to share with the whole family.

What do tickets Cost? Did you raise the prices? Why Where Why not? Where box people obtain tickets?

Tickets are $6 per person this year with children 12 and under admitted free. It’s a small change of $1 per person to help cover some of our increased costs. Tickets can only be purchased at the door on the evening of the event and guests are reminded to bring their own lawn chair or blanket (no pets, please) to relax and enjoy. a good evening of music.

Did you Miss any concerts during the pandemic?

“Like many other activities, we had to cancel this event in 2020. Unfortunately, almost all of our normal room activities were canceled that year.”

In light of the pandemic, have you made any operational Where other changes at the an event? Whether then, What are they or they? Fortunately, fans in the area didn’t miss a beat and came back strong last year to enjoy this community concert and we hope it will happen again this year. There are no restrictions and we look forward to seeing area residents spending time with friends, family and neighbors enjoying this local tradition.

“We are fortunate that so many of our local businesses continue to support this annual event. Genisys Credit Union joined us in 2017 as a main sponsor and they continue to this day. Other returning sponsors like Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Community Financial Credit Union and Huron Valley State Bank are big supporters and community partners. This year, new sponsors include Varsity Lincoln of Novi, Olympia Tae Kwon Do and Walled Lake Schools Federal Credit Union, and we are grateful for their additional support.

“From our title sponsors to our community sponsors and support level sponsors, it takes an entire village and we are grateful for their support at all levels. Our Lake District members never disappoint.

Do you expect presence at be at the top Where down this year? Do you think this will be be close at pre-COVID-19 Numbers? Why Where Why not?

“Talking to the groups, they are seeing an increase in attendance at most of their outdoor venues this year. People are happy to be outside again, doing things with each other and supporting these community events. , so we think we’ll have record crowds.

As a Chamber of Commerce, it is great to introduce our community and some of our members to area residents and guests from nearby communities. We’re thrilled to be hosting Rockin’ Under the Stars 2022 and hope to see you there!
