Bears announces $103,000 grant for A Safe Haven Foundation as winner of Community All-Pros

On Friday, the Bears announced the A Safe Haven Foundation as the winner of the 2022 Community All-Pros and recipient of a $103,000 grant. Founded in 1994, A Safe Haven is on a mission to help people ASPIRATE. TRANSFORM. and SUSTAIN® their lives as they move from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and determination. A Safe Haven Foundation provides the tools for each individual to overcome the root causes of homelessness through a holistic and scalable model. The grant money will be used for therapeutic counseling and suicide prevention for high-risk veterans.

Earlier this week, Bears offensive lineman Cody Whitehair surprised members of the A Safe Haven Foundation when he learned that their organization had been chosen as the winner of the $103,000 Community All-Pros grant. Cody casually walked into a room where a group of A Safe Haven Foundation members thought they would present their case to win the grant. Cody then introduced himself and shook hands with all the members before announcing to the group that they had already won the grant. Without hesitation, all the members burst out with emotion and excitement. Cody stayed to share the exciting moment with them, taking photos and presenting the check for $103,000. “The Chicago Bears Community All-Pros award at the A Safe Haven Foundation’s RISE Veterans Program couldn’t be more timely,” said A Safe Haven President Mark G. Mulroe. “Your [Chicago Bears] generosity will play a vital role in our ability to provide needed resources to our veterans. At A Safe Haven Foundation, we provide stable and supportive housing, counseling, addiction treatment, and other essential services needed by military veterans and their families in crisis.

“With this award, you will help us address critical risk factors in veterans and give them hope for a better future and path. It is our duty to provide support, services and resources to veterans (and their families) who made sacrifices for all of us in protecting our freedom and our way of life. We are honored to be among the recipients of this most prestigious honor. Our sincere thanks go to the Chicago Bears Community All-Pros and the entire Chicago Bears organization.
