Hello Vashon community!

We hope you had a wonderful summer and are as excited as we are to get back to a fall routine – whether that’s at work, school or volunteering in the community.

We can’t wait to start another school year! For school families, that might mean the daily packing of lunches, the quick farewells as our kids run out, cheering on the Pirates on a chilly fall night, or returning to the afternoon traffic at school. stop at Cemetery Road. A new school year awakens our fall traditions.

One of the many traditions that the Vashon Schools Foundation (VSF) has been most proud of since our beginnings in 2010 is being able to provide our children with a hands-on and distinctive learning experience. Thanks to the generosity of parents, teachers, staff and our wider community, VSF continues to support essential hands-on programs that promote our children’s social-emotional health, equity, arts and sciences, and programs that connect learning to nature on our beautiful island.

This year, we are partnering with the Vashon Wilderness Program (VWP) – among other partners – to bring additional outdoor learning into the lives of our students. VWP will be there on Tuesdays throughout the school year, offering guided nature connection activities on the CES campus during extra recess.

VWP mentors will be posted around the play area and will offer a variety of choice-based activities including high and low energy sensory play, small motor nature craft activities, walks in nature in the woods and pond area and nature museum interactive objects/lands. guide prospecting.

The Vashon Schools Foundation believes it is our responsibility, including all of our neighbors on Vashon Island, to develop, maintain and grow the love of learning – we cannot do this without the support amazing community members like you. A suggested monthly donation of $20 will help keep Vashon’s unique educational experience thriving.

As a community organization, our primary goal is greater involvement of our community and school families, and any donation (monthly or one-time) has a significant impact on the education and well-being of our children.

Donations can be made by mailing a check to Vashon Schools Foundation, PO Box 481, Vashon, WA 98070, or by visiting our website, vashonschoolsfoundation.org/donate.

Your support of our children is simply amazing and we cannot thank you enough.
