NEW KENT – Bridges of Change will host a Queen of Hearts inspired masquerade ball to help raise funds for the shelter on September 24.

Bridges of Change is a non-profit organization that provides free emergency shelter and comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence for New Kent, Charles City, King and Queen and King William counties, and the City of West Point .

This is the second masquerade ball the organization is hosting, the first before COVID-19. At the time, Bridges of Change planned to hold the event on an annual basis.

“We thought maybe now was a good time to do it. People have been inside for a long time. It would be an opportunity to dress up and go out and have fun, listen to a band fabulous, eating well, catching up with friends, dancing and having a good time all while raising funds for the shelter,” said Karen Mortensen, Board Member and Co-Founder of Bridges of Change.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 24 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Colonial stockings in New Kent. The event is restricted to ages 21 and older and party masks should only be worn on the fourth floor. First group will provide the music for the event.

Tickets are $75, cover food and one drink, and can be purchased through the Venmo or PayPal links on the organization’s site. website. Sponsorships are also available for any organization wishing to support the shelter.
